The reason I created "The News Rants" blog is because I wanted there to be a place on the web where the important stories and issues of the day would get their needed space in the spotlight. A place where the stories that seem to go unnoticed in the mainstream press get their due attention since they're important moments on our history that affect the people, not the press's pocketbooks. So it is with great haste that I rant about the following.

Ben Affleck, Jennifer Lopez Get Back Together

The on again, off again, then on again again, then off again once more, then on again just when you're not paying attention but back to off again when the tabloid catches one of them with their pants down mostly in the literal sense is now offiically once and for all "back on again" after the couple split up two weeks ago for reasons that if you tried to comprehend, your brain would cave in due to excessive stupidity.

Why the hell are people so interested in these two talentless balls of flesh and what they do behind closed doors? We, the United States, are at this moment pleading with the United Nations to help us rebuild Iraq because we can't do it on our own. We, the United States, are experiencing a struggling economy that shows very little signs of improvement. We've even got a hurricane that's destroying homes and land and sending people hurling through the air and throwing farm animals through windows and wiping away all matter of life in its path and this is the big news of the week?!? I've seen celebrity feeding frenzies in the press before, but everyone is just so infatuated with Ben and Jenny that it makes all those other feeding frenzies look like some homeless guy eating a half empty can of cold pork 'n beans.

It's not like they're talented enough to merit such attention. Did anyone in this country actually see "Gigli?" Well, now that I think of it, probably not. But I did. Why? Because I've got no reason to go on living, that's why. I actually didn't want to pay to see it because I don't like giving my money to terrorism. That's right, if you paid to see "Gigli," then the terrorists have not only won, but they're doing a little touchdown dance as well. So I snuck in the theater to see it, and it was, of course, a billion times worse than anything I ever imagined. It was so bad that I snuck in to see it and I still demanded my money back.

So please, stop it. Stop reading about them, stop talking about them, stop writing crap about them. Just stop stop stop stop stop stop stop stop.
